OUR JOURNEY HALF WAY AROUND THE WORLD TO BRING OUR DAUGHTERS HOME. "Love touched our very hearts with tenderness anew, the day we heard your little voices and cast our eyes on you."

Day 6, Bratsk, at the orphange

We get to baby home and the children are on playground again, we spend a few minutes playing there then take the girls up to the room. Alyssa doesnt sit still and wants to hold all the toys, saying "die" (means give in Russian) if you are holding one of the toys. She continues to be a little chatter box. It is difficult for her to sit still in small room, she does better on playground. When she gets mad, she throws temper tantrum, laying on floor kicking legs, then sits up and rocks back an forth. She does better on the playground where there is more room to play. Victoria just smiles all the time and never gets upset, even when Alyssa takes toys from her. She spends time examining everything (ie.the seams on the beach ball) like she is trying to figure out how they are made-maybe she will be a scientist.
We meet with guardian committee lady, she is concerned that we are not prepared to raise Vicka as she thinks she is developmentally disabled. We have already discussed possibility and are prepared, but we really dont think she is disabled, just delayed. Also turns out that Sergey and guardian lady need to find Alyssa's mother and make sure she is willing to give her up; the grandmother signed her over in the hospital.. We leave disturbed and wonder if they will let us have Vicka.
I had e-mailed Brenda earlier about the visit with guardian, she said not to worry-they had labeled her soon as retarded, but is just fine with high IQ. Thank goodness for Brenda, she is always there when we need her.
